Wind chill advisory

• Update: Wind Chill Advisory issued January 14 at 10:11AM EST until January 15 at 1:00PM EST by NWS Binghamton NY

• Areas Affected: Northern Wayne; Lackawanna; Luzerne; Pike; Southern Wayne

• * WHAT...Very cold wind chills expected. Wind chills as low as 20 below zero. * WHERE...Southern Wayne, Pike, Lackawanna, Luzerne and Northern Wayne counties. * WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 1 PM EST Saturday. * IMPACTS...The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...In addition to the bitterly cold wind chills overnight, temperatures on Saturday are expected to stay in the single digits above zero and then quickly fall back below zero overnight Sunday night. This will be a prolonged period under very cold conditions. This could lead to pipes freezing.

• Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
